Information about the Cyprus Land Registry offices

The Cyprus Department of Lands and Surveys (also known as The Land Registry), started functioning in 1858 and is the oldest government unit of the public sector. The preliminary and key responsibility of the Land Registry was to register immovable property in Cyprus. However, since the department started its operations, during the years, it has extended its services offered to the general public, emerging into a comprehensive organization. 

In general, the purpose of the Land Registry is to create a fixed boundary coordinated cadastral structure after a methodical resurvey, the computerization of cadastral plans, land records, , topographical maps, the entire development of Cyprus’s Land Information System (C.I.L.I.S.), to fully support the survey, registration, valuation and management role of the Land Registry, and the staged expansion and execution of a the LIS (National Land Information System) where all organizations with land associated activities can share on hand data for the assistance of the Cyprus economy.

The headquarters of the Department of Land and Surveys is located in Nicosia and there are six District Land offices located correspondingly in each town (Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, and Larnaca). The offices for Keryneia and Ammochostos are located in Nicosia and Larnaca due to the Turkish invasion of 1974.
